Mark Sweet (Ngā Mahanga) was born in Napier, and raised in Waimarama. In the 1980s he lived in Hong Kong and travelled extensively in China, returning in 2007 to study Tai Chi and Quigong. In 2010 Mark was selected as an author in the Te Papa Tupu programme where he further developed his debut novel Zhu Mao.
Mark has also published Portrait and Opinion, with photographer Richard Brimmer, and had a short story included in Huia Short Stories 9. After careers in the property sector and restaurants, he is now devoting his time to writing.
