Mere Berryman

Mere Berryman

Mere Berryman (Ngāi Tūhoe), after years of teaching experience, both in English and bilingual settings, began work in the field of educational research. In 2003 she co-authored a book with Professor Ted Glynn that reported on one community's response to effective transition for their Year 8 students going from a kura kaupapa Māori to an English medium secondary school.

Two recent books, co-authored again with Professor Ted Glynn and Dr Janice Wearmouth from the United Kingdom, investigate how a better understanding of responsive social learning contexts can contribute greater support for students who are experiencing literacy and behavioural difficulties. Mere is currently the Project Director of the Ministry of Education (Special Education) Poutama Pounamu Education Research and Development Centre.
