Sons

by Victor Rodger

'Sons' explores a volatile, fractured extended family of Samoans, New Zealand-born Samoans, palagi, and afakasi (half caste), and a variety of family 'legitimacies'.

Noah, a successful young afakasi man, goes to see his father after a ten year silence. During his visit he sees a photograph of his half brother, who he always knew existed but has never met. Ignoring the advice of his mother and grandmother, he delves into his unexplored Samoan heritage, leading to an explosive and emotionally gripping climax.

A useful tool for teachers, this playscript of 'Sons' also has a comprehensive 'Study Resource' located at the back of the book, written by Jean Betts.

"My aim is to offer here a wide-enough range of comments, questions and activities so that all practitioners, including students and teachers at all levels, can find everything they need to suit their particular situation." Jean Betts October 2007
