Serie Barford has a Teaching Diploma and Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults. She has worked in schools throughout Auckland and been exposed to a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Serie was filmed by Ian Mune for Artsville TVNZ in 2006, performed with Polynation, a group of poets of mixed ancestry, at the Brisbane Poetry Festival in 2008, had four stories produced for National Radio NZ in 2010, was short listed for the 2010 Royal Society of NZ Manhire prize for Creative Writing and was the recipient of 2011 Seresin Landfall Residency. She has been published in a range of anthologies, journals, and electronic publications. Other titles of Serie’s include Plea to the Spanish Lady and Glass Canisters. She is currently working on her fourth collection of poetry entitled Entangled Islands and regularly performs poetry.
