Vincent O’Malley holds a BA (Hons) degree in History from the University of Canterbury and has a PhD on nineteenth-century runanga and komiti. As a professional historian engaged in the Treaty of Waitangi claims process since 1993 he has presented expert evidence to the Waitangi Tribunal on many occasions, including appearances before the Central North Island, Mohaka ki Ahuriri, Napier Hospital, Taurangā Moana Raupatu, Turangānui-a-Kiwa and Urewera inquiries.
Vincent’s other works include The Treaty of Waitangi Companion: Maori and Pakeha from Tasman to Today, The Meeting Place: Maori and Pakeha Encounters, and Beyond the Imperial Frontier. Vincent is currently a director of HistoryWorks.
