HUIA has two divisions – the Commercial Books division, which publishes fiction and non-fiction retail books, and Huia Education, which produces a wide range of quality resources in Māori language for Māori medium schools, from early childhood to secondary level.

Kaiwhakahiato Rauemi/ Resource Developer
Kua roa a Huia e whakaputa ana i ngā pukapuka kounga te āhua, kounga te takoto hei whakaatu i ngā tirohanga kē a te Māori. Kei te kimi tangata tōtika mō tō mātou tīma waihanga rauemi reo Māori.
Creativity and innovation is imperative to the Resource Development position. We seek candidates who will champion high quality educational resources for a wide range of media requirements. We want people who can contribute to our vision in publishing with fresh innovative ideas.
Educational resources in Māori language will be a core component of this position so a high level of Māori language proficiency is desirable. Well-developed relationship management skills to work with a variety of audiences will ensure successful outcomes. Knowledge of the Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and current and emerging developments in the education sector will be an advantage. An understanding of the cognitive development and learning processes of children is highly desirable.

Getting to Know You, Getting to Know Us
This programme is designed to give you the opportunity to get to know us and for us to get to know you before you embark on a career at HUIA.
You will get to meet the team, get to know the work programme and get a better idea about how you might fit with the team and our workplace culture, learn from our experiences through stories we can share and gain some insight into what makes us unique, what drives us and what our values are.
HUIA Resource Developers work with teachers, subject specialists and language experts to develop quality resources. With over 600 schools in Aotearoa teaching all or some of the curriculum in Māori language, it is essential that the quality of the language and the information in the resources meets the needs of teachers and students.
We are particularly interested in increasing the number of people writing and illustrating educational resources in Māori language. These include materials in the areas of:
- Te reo Māori – reading and literacy
- Putaio – Science
- Hangarau – Technology
- Tikanga-a-iwi – Social Studies.
