Dr Patrick McCarthy
Dr McCarthy M.B. Ch.B. was born, educated and trained as a doctor in Glasgow, Scotland. He spent 4 years training to be a GP and then spent a further 2 years in a mission hospital in Mzuzu, Malawi.
He emigrated to NZ in 1986 and worked as a cancer doctor, then as a GP in Waikanae before opening NZ's only medical hypnosis practice in 1996 with over 20,000 hypnosis consultations since then.
He has given dozens of hypnosis workshops to health professionals throughout NZ as well as Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth, Fraser Island and Norfolk Island.
Dr McCarthy has presented to a range of audiences in the United Kingdom, Canada and USA. He has also been a Champion Toastmaster, an award winning amateur actor and an entertaining after dinner speaker.
He started writing self-help books in 2012 with the first, 'Relax : Say Goodbye to Anxiety and Panic' being released in November 2012 followed by 'Quit : Say Goodbye to Smoking' released in December 2012.
Future books are planned for release in 2013 including how to combat Insomnia and Irritable Bowel Syndrome, how to make childbirth more comfortable and how to help treat infertility.
